ANIKAN Rocks Pedro's Gourmet!

Originally from Guadalajara, but now calling Lakeside home, ANIKAN delighted a sell-out audience at Pedro's Gourmet (Ocampo 71) on Sunday. Patrons enthusiastically enjoyed music from Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Genesis & Doors as well as a couple of ANIKAN originals. A delicious meal prepared by Pedro, "with a little help from his friends".

The event, hosted without charge by Pedro and with music provided fee of charge by ANIKAN, made a substantial contribution to Los Niños de Chapala y Ajijic (NCA)'s educational scholarship program. This program provides much needed financial support to over 200 of Lakesides most deserving and talented students, many of whom could not continue to attend school without assistance.

NCA's Board and our students extend a most heartfelt thanks to Pedro and friends, to ANIKAN, and especially to our many wonderful supporters. For more information about NCA visit us at Chacaltita 20A in Chapala (close to Soriana), at LCS on Fridays or go to www.lakesideninos.org or call Alex at (376)765-7032.

Your donations are now tax deductible!

The NCA will now have tax deductible recognition through the Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities. The Foundation was established to provide tax deductibility for the NCA and other charities at Lakeside.

We applied for the 501(c)3 status in the U.S. in early February 2008 and just received notice that it was granted. It operates in the U.S. as the Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities, Inc.

The Foundation has also been recognized by IJAS in Mexico as a charity. It is being formed in Mexico under the same name. With some help from people in Canada, we hope to now apply for charity recognition with Revenue Canada this year.

In the near future NCA sponsors can ensure tax deductible recognition, if they wish, by writing their checks to the Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities, earmarking the money to go to the Ninos de Chapala y Ajijic. However, we must first wait for the paperwork to be finished on the Mexican organization so we can establish a bank account in Mexico to cash checks.

Until then, sponsors should continue making their checks payable to Los Ninos de Chapala y Ajijic.
